New infection control requirements for Queensland laser license application
We have been fielding numerous questions about this since the recent inclusion of the criteria '(iii)
a certified copy of your evidence of completion of an infection control training module' must be included in your application' in the Queensland 'Application for a licence to use laser apparatus - Cosmetic Purposes (Trainee)'. It is our understanding that if you are an AHPRA registered nurse, doctor or podiatrist that this is sufficient evidence. If you are a beauty therapist or dermal therapist, relevant units of competency from the RTO should suffice. If you do not have and infection control qualification then the Radiation Health Dept in Queensland can recommend one for you if you contact them.
Bravura Education's laser/IPL safety training courses continue to satisfy the section in the application requiring '(ii) a certified copy of your safety training certificate or evidence of enrolment, as appropriate' despite Bravura Education not being listed in the drop down box on the application form (the form preceded our application). We do cover infection control as it relates to the use of lasers in our course too.
