Cosmetic medicine has grown up, and fast!
The cosmetic medicine industry is not about using makeup for facial contouring, eyebrows being on fleek or eyelash extensions but is about skin health, clinical excellence in treatments, client care and appropriate referral. Skin resurfacing and the removal of benign lesion treatments, for example, can be highly complex and require a strong educational foundation as there are often high risk possible adverse outcomes particularly with the use of lasers and other energy-based systems.
Volatility in the VET sector and uncertainty for students
We chose not to become an RTO when we established Bravura Education. We chose this because we wanted to be able to update our curriculum in real-time and not be bogged down by some of the arduous process that comes from changing your course content when you can't be that agile.
After we decided to not become an RTO, and to our dismay, there was the withdrawal of VET fee help for TAFE students doing laser and IPL courses and it doesn't look like it will be reinstated. Large, well-established providers of laser and beauty courses have also gone into administration and we worry that we may not have seen the last of this unfortunately either. Many hundreds of students have been left high and dry, some of whom we have assisted to fulfill their dreams.
Masters of Industry Collaborate for Quality and Accessibility
Bravura made a conscious choice when we established our education company to create a rigorously academic and accessible learning environment to support the variety of learning styles of our students. We are supported by the Masters of Industry who audit and endorse our courses and keep us on the contemporary edge of clinical practice. Masters like the Fellows at the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, Fellows of the Australian College of Nursing and Radiation Health Department physicists to name a few of the people we are eternally grateful to for supporting us.
